Home / Closet Cases / A Large Walk-In Closet for $6,700
Customer Project · 4 min readA Large Walk-In Closet for $6,700 — Not $12,000–$17,000
Before this homeowner ever called us, they'd already collected quotes from the big national closet brands for their large primary walk-in. The numbers came back between $12,000 and $17,000 — for one closet. We designed and installed the closet you see here, with plenty of hanging space, drawers and a full wall of shoe storage, for $6,700 — roughly half. Here's what they got, and why the price gap is so wide.

The quotes: $12,000 to $17,000 for a single closet
This is a big, real walk-in — a proper primary-bedroom closet with three working walls. When the homeowner priced it with the national franchises, the estimates landed between $12,000 and $17,000. That's a common range once a closet gets this size and this many features, and it's exactly the sticker shock that makes people put the project off for years. The frustrating part? Most of that number has nothing to do with the closet itself.
What we built for $6,700
Every wall was designed around how the homeowner actually lives, then built to the inch and professionally installed. Here's what's packed into it:
- Plenty of hanging space. Center double-hang sections stack two rods — perfect for shirts, blouses and folded-over trousers — while a dedicated long-hang section handles dresses, coats and anything full-length. Together they hold far more than a standard rod-and-shelf closet.
- Multiple drawer banks. Several stacks of drawers replace a dresser entirely, keeping folded clothes, accessories and delicates inside the closet and freeing up the bedroom.
- A full wall of shoe storage. Angled shoe shelves put the whole collection on display and in reach — no more stacking boxes on the floor or losing pairs at the back of a shelf.
- Adjustable shelving & bins. Open shelves flex as needs change, and the top runs of shelving give a home to storage bins for seasonal and out-of-reach items — using the height most closets waste.
It's finished in clean white furniture-grade melamine — the same durable, wipe-clean material the national brands use — with a bright, built-in look that makes the whole room feel like a boutique dressing room.
Same melamine, none of the showroom markup
So how is the price barely half? It isn't cheaper materials, and it isn't a smaller closet. It's overhead. The national franchises build the cost of glossy showrooms, constant advertising, franchise royalties and commissioned salespeople into every quote — and then inflate the number so they can wave a big “discount” at you later. We're family-owned. We skip the showroom and the sales theater, build from the same furniture-grade laminate and hardware, and quote you an honest installed price the first time. On this closet, that difference was $5,300 to $10,300 left in the homeowner's pocket.
Same closet. Same materials. Half the price — because you're not paying franchise fees.
The payoff
The homeowner got the large, feature-loaded walk-in they wanted — generous hanging, real drawers, a wall of shoe storage and shelving that finally uses the full height of the room — and kept thousands of dollars they were bracing to spend. That's the whole idea behind how we work: a closet that looks and functions like the luxury brands', at a price a normal family can actually say yes to.
